FILAMENT WINDING TANK

GRP Cylindrical Tank 2

The filament winding process is a widely used manufacturing method for producing tubular parts such as rocket bodies, pressure vessels and suspension components for auto racing. Continuous fibers are fed through a delivery system to the filament winding machine, where they are wound onto a mandrel in a pre-determined pattern. The angle of the fiber to the mandrel axis (known as the winding angle) can be customized, and when enough layers have been applied the laminate is cured on the mandrel. This determines the size and shape of the finished part. The winding angles also affect the mechanical characteristics such as strength, stiffness, and weight. It is a highly versatile and repeatable technique, making it a popular choice for composite cylindrical part production.
